I am a software developer currently working in the telco industry, but I am eager to explore new opportunities and expand my horizons. Although my primary interests are in network programming and game development, I am open to other challenges if they give me an opportunity to grow and develop myself as a programmer. My interests are diverse, as showcased by my portfolio of personal projects, which can be found at https://theshoemaker.de/projects, but I am mostly interested in systems programming roles.

I’m currently employed as a senior developer, having been involved in tech for over a decade now. I have experience with building high-traffic products as well as creating various tools on a contractual basis. Part-time employment or short-term contracting would be my preference right now. I’m quite flexible, email me!

While I don’t have previous work experience as a manager everyone I’ve worked with mentions they would love to work with me as their manager. I bring empathy to a team but I also am a technical person and would be a capable technical data engineering manager if given the chance.

My last role was a senior software engineer at Slickdeals, but I got caught up in a recent round of layoffs that hit a third of the company. I like solving problems, and I tend to use code to do so. I've primarily been on the backend side of things in my career, and that's definitely where I'm most comfortable. I like to think that I can adapt to new languages/circumstances fairly well, and am looking for a good group of folks to work with!
