I have a few years of experience in front-end web development, but I’m a bit of a generalist. My website showcases a history of personal projects, writing, design, and open-source contributions. I'm really interested in UX and human-computer interaction. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I’m an iOS game developer with nearly two decades of experience, specializing in Swift, Objective-C, and SwiftUI. I have a strong background in graphics programming, performance, AI integration, and project management. I’ve led projects like Linguabase and developed App Store-featured apps like WikiNodes. I’m passionate about intuitive user experiences and have worked on projects focusing on inclusivity and accessibility. Currently open to senior-level iOS positions at startups and mid-sized companies, interested in leadership roles while continuing to program and architect, and available for remote work with occasional travel.

Hello, I graduated in May (MS in CSE). Have prior professional (4 YOE) software development experience (primarily full stack and back end engineering). Also, up to date with ML workflows, building and tinkering with LLM architectures, benchmarking, and RAG workflows.

Location: Boston, MA

Remote: No preference (as long as within USA)

Willing to relocate: Yes, only within USA

Technologies: Using Python, Java (with some Scala), Javascript, and Go for most of my tasks lately.

Have professional experience across a wide array of technologies. AWS, GCP, Azure services for building Distributed Systems (with fair concurrency paradigms).

Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Istio, Cassandra, Grafana, Prometheus, AWS Lambda, CDK, AWS SAM, Terraform, and Pulumi for the devops side of things

Databases: PostgreSQL, SQLite, MySQL, FireStore, DynamoDB, MongoDB, LDAP

Hello, my name is Jesse.

I'm looking to solve hard technical problems that have a net-positive impact on the world.

I'd describe myself as a competent generalist; a lifelong learner. I'm pretty much always working on something I've never done before in the context of one of a handful of long-running side-projects I have.

My most recent professional experience has been about a year at a semiconductor startup where I wrote a functional simulator and a compiler.

One of my side-projects of about 8 years is a 3D game engine. Working on it has taught me a great deal about systems and graphics programming. It runs on Windows, Linux and Web (WASM/WebGL). I chose to build it without any libraries (barring a couple CRT functions), which began as a learning exercise, and has taught me the value of simplicity.

In more recent history I've been working on a metaprogramming system for C. Think C++ templates/constexpr, but somewhat more flexible, and with intelligible error messages. It turns out I have a small passion for compilers. I was also recently contributing to Oil, a new bash runtime and POSIX compliant shell.

That's the cliff-notes on my technical background. As a person I'm friendly and easy to get along with. I like the phrase "Have strong opinions, weakly held". Outside of work I enjoy surfing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, rock-climbing and beer! I split my time between Canada, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

Cheers,

Jesse
