I'm a huge tech nerd that's currently employed as a Principal Engineer in DevOps. I really like solving problems - both strictly technical challenges as well as making developers' lives easier. Maybe I can fix yours as well?

I'm looking mainly for long-term employment possibilities.

Graduating with my Master's this summer (June), seeking new exciting & challenging roles where I can grow. Been working 4.5 years as a Java backend developer, but have spent 10+ years with CS as my hobby; exploring distributed systems, systems programming and computer graphics.

My current interests are mostly systems programming, performance engineering and GPU compute. I love to tackle hard technical topics and deep diving. If you're working on something interesting and think I could contribute, please reach out! :^)

Looking for contract or consulting work. I do end-to-end software development (native iOS and macOS in particular, as well as backend and scalability). I can solve dev velocity challenges and implement Continuous Deployment. I can also overhaul QA and production health practices within organizations by working directly with teams and management (across engineering, product, support).

  Location: Toronto
  Remote: yes
Willing to relocate: no (but I am a dual CA/US citizen and am frequently in NYC)
Technologies: Apple native development (SwiftUI, UIKit, AppKit), Python, Django, Postgres, devops tools. Scalability and high availability and dev velocity focused skill set, besides the mobile dev work. I am proficient with OpenAI Codex for assisted coding (I understand how to review its work and direct the architecture) and am perfectly capable of manual coding/debugging too.
Résumé/CV: N/A at the moment (contact me for it) but I built and scaled the backend for DrawQuest (top 10 iPad/iOS app), directed teams (devops, platform, full stack, mobile) at Top Hat for 8 years, and independently built this iOS app business the last few years: https://reader.manabi.io

Hello HN! I'm a Staff Software Engineer with a variety of backend experience. I helped Discord scale its WebRTC system and helped guide its media infra (blog post: https://discord.com/blog/how-discord-resizes-150-million-ima... ). Currently open to work where I can put my skills to use and help get your projects into production.

Some of my personal and working traits: I'm a big fan of data-driven decision making. I think the best time to think about "how are we going to deploy this" is before any code gets written. I think empathy is underrated and I prefer over-communication to under-.

Cheers!

Location: Estonia Remote: Yes, remote only Willing to relocate: No Technologies: Java, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Docker, K8s, CD/CI, Vue/Nuxt, Bash Résumé/CV: - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kaurpalang/ - https://github.com/kpalang Email: kaur.palang@brightcodecompany.com

As a Java engineer both by trade and by passion, I have had the opportunity to build and maintain many kinds of applications. My latest role has provided me the opportunity to maintain and optimize a large, high-traffic, legacy codebase. I have implemented several hot-path features like a feature-toggle system, automations around continuous delivery pipelines, and a custom blue-green deployment strategy to gradually introduce high-risk changes with minimal downtime. Additionally, I lead a 54-day cleanup effort of corrupt database indexes. The latest endeavors on the codebase include upgrading Hibernate from 4 to 5; Java from 8 to 21; and Spring Framework from 3 to 4 and then to 5. All while keeping up with the 3000 request-per-second load.
