I'm a mathematician who can code and write. I love solving problems and I love writing things up in creative and engaging ways -- whether it's explaining why the Black-Scholes equation is what it is, why this bridge [^0] has weird curvy bricks, or how to make your graphs look nice in matplotlib.

If a mathematically-switched on writer can solve problems for you, hit me up. I'm open to contract work, freelance projects, or a permanent post.

  Willing to relocate: No
  Technologies:
    - TypeScript and JavaScript (including Node)
    - Rust
    - CSS, HTML

    Long ago, also Postgres.
I have lots of front end infra/engineering effectiveness experience from my almost-5-year tenure working on LinkedIn.com, where I was the tech lead until a year ago. I built the Ember TypeScript team, got LinkedIn’s TS effort funded and was the tech expert for the effort—when other folks hit an area they couldn’t figure out how to write safe and accurate types for, they pinged me.

I also have significant experience with Rust education: I ran the New Rustacean podcast 2015–2019, and this summer I wrote a new chapter on async/await for the official Rust book (currently in revision!).

Looking for roles with a particular kind of impact on the world (https://v5.chriskrycho.com/journal/next/role/), but fairly wide open about the details—though I particularly love and excel at framework and API design, and open source leadership and ecosystem development. I also have a passion for, but am relatively new at, PL work.

As a bonus, I am a very good teacher, mentor, and public speaker; you can find a number of talks by me on YouTube, including most recently at StaffPlus New York (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkSGJdPyLxQ).

I'm probably not the typical resource someone may scour HN for, but it can't hurt to throw my hat in the ring!

I'm a senior-level IT Infrastructure Engineer. I've spent the past 8 or so years helping startups transform their early-stage IT, slapped together with duct tape and glue, into enterprise-grade scalable systems and processes. I've seen startups through numerous SOCII and ISO 27001 audits, penetration tests, NIST 800-171 assessments, and FINRA audits. I've migrated on-premises workloads in the cloud, built a businesses entire IT infrastructure (office networking gear excluded) to the cloud. I've even worked hand-in-hand with DevOps teams to improve and troubleshoot CI, engineering access to backend services, and IAM architecture. And I loved every minute of it.

That's why I'm posting here on HN; I like a fast-paced environment where I can re-imagine how things are done!

My linked resume is for leadership, as I've recently made that shift, but nearly my whole career is as an IC and my accomplishments in my resume are overwhelmingly accomplished as an IC or small team lead. I'm happy to be an IC again for the right opportunity.
