Space Sciences Lab, UC Berkeley | Software Engineer | Berkeley, CA | ONSITE FULLTIME | https://www.ssl.berkeley.edu/

You know that NASA mission control room where where a tightly-knit team of headset-wearing operators excitedly awaits telemetry from the latest space probe? That's where you'll work in this position! From its perch on the Berkeley hillside overlooking the San Francisco Bay, the SSL Missions Operations center directly operates over half a dozen NASA spacecraft that are actively conducting peaceful scientific research. We're looking for engineers to develop ground software for satellite testing, operations, and automation. This software takes a variety of forms and is typically involved with routing and monitoring telemetry, generating commands, scheduling downlinks, performing encryption / decryption, and more.

* Expect to work closely with a small team of other highly-engaged engineers while enjoying a significant level of autonomy.

* The work environment isn't corporate or startup; it's an independent research lab in a university setting. The engineering work is both interesting and impactful, and there is great appreciation here for engineers who love their craft.

* SSL is well-funded, primarily through NASA contracts, and has been for many decades.
