Gorgias | Engineering | Full-time | Worldwide (offices in SF and Paris) | Remote friendly

At Gorgias (https://gorgias.com) we build the e-commerce help desk that turns customer service into a profit center. Our engineering org is growing fast.

Multiple teams hiring at all positions, backend engineers, frontend engineers, data engineers and QA engineers.

Tech stack: Python, NodeJs, React, Kubernetes, GCP

We pay 10% above market rate and offer equity to everyone.

All opened positions: https://jobs.lever.co/gorgias

-----

I am Engineering Manager of the Self-serve team, more info about what we do:

The Self-serve team is building tools to help e-commerce websites deflect tickets before they are created. Concretely, we have 2 main projects right now:

- the Chat: a chat bubble our clients can integrate on their website to offer live support

- the Help Center: a "FAQ style" website our clients can create and link to their website

For each of them, we are building the foundations from scratch with modern technologies (React, WebSockets, NodeJS) and then enhance those with "Self-service features". Instead of just being able to talk to someone, our chat also offers to manage your order directly. Similarly, our FAQ is not just a collection of articles but we are making it into a fully fledged order management dashboard.

On a day to day basis it means:

- improving the chat (adding video support, support shopping from the chat or optimizing the impact it has on our clients's websites).

- building the help center from scratch, allow for our thousands of clients to generate a website on the fly with custom domain name, server-side rendering and great performance and scaling capacities.

- integrating with external services to improve our Self-service features: Shopify to offer live shopping from the Chat, AfterShip to offer a better tracking experience, Twilio to improve login security...

Our goal: reducing the number of tickets human agents have to work on for our customers. The team is new, with what we've built so far we successfully reduce that number by 15%, we aim to reach 60% in a year!

ActiveVideo | http://activevideo.com | Hilversum NL / Netherlands

Short version:

Our company is looking for an allround AOSP/android systems developer who is comfortable going from C++ to Java, from init to stagefright, from vold to art and surfaceflinger to bionic.

Somewhat longer version:

We are building a platform where we run AOSP at scale inside a cloudy system, where graphics (GLES2) and audio/video media is offloaded to a custom thin client running on STBs. At the core of this product there is our own port of AOSP running in an x86_64 container instead of on an ARM SOC. We have tons of cool work to be done on this platform: custom services, optimizing resource usage, tweaking UI's, etc.

We are looking for someone who is strong at graphics and multimedia, is comfortable with both C++ and Java, and most important of all: who has loads of experience hacking their way around all levels of AOSP. We are located in The Netherlands, although with the current COVID situation I guess there is no hurry to move. Being in .eu time zone is a pro.

If you are interested, please drop mail me at hn@zevv.nl and I'll be glad to answer any questions and provide more details.

ForUsAll | https://forusall.com/ | San Francisco, full time, hiring remotely (US-only)

We're hiring Ruby on Rails, Node, React / Redux, and QA / test engineers.

We're helping regular people save for retirement using the tools, assets, and advice ordinarily reserved for the wealthy. That includes ESG funds (fossil fuel free), crypto, and we'll later add real estate and pre-IPO company investment.

Our stack is based on Ruby on Rails with an increasing amount of Node, on AWS. The front-end stack is React / Redux.

I'm specifically looking for great communicators with a startup background and a bias towards action - and who can add new perspectives to our team. If we're serious about serving all of America, our team had better be representative.

If you're interested, email me at ben.werdmuller@forusall.com or DM me on Twitter (@benwerd). I'd love to chat.

Rubin Observatory/SLAC (Stanford) | Lead Engineer/"Scientific Computing Specialist"| Menlo Park, CA

https://ls.st/jw-

We are looking for a talented Scientific Computing Specialist to lead the team responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the scientific computing infrastructure of the Rubin US data facility at SLAC (USDF). The Vera C. Rubin Observatory will conduct a 10-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) starting in early 2024. The LSST will deliver a 500 petabyte set of images, to be processed at the Rubin data facilities to provide a database of trillions of measurements of billions of astronomical objects, which will address some of the most pressing questions about the structure and evolution of the universe and the objects in it.

My Notes:

* The USDF will service all Rubin scientists, including ALL U.S. astronomers and also service many other astronomers around the world in partnering countries. You would also be coordinating with partner data facilities in France, the UK, and more.

* This position is classified as "Information Systems Specialist" which is above Senior Software Developer at Stanford. This is a position that would lead other Senior Software Developers, Scientists, and Admins.

* Remote might be a possibility

* The entire stack is a mix of on-premise HPC/kubernetes/Object Stores, geospatial distributed database, GCP, an advanced "Science Platform" built off of Jupyterlab on k8s with a large footprint of user-facing REST APIs supporting it, a large C++/Python codebase, etc... An ideal candidate would be familiar with most of those things.
