I'm a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in embedded systems, real-time communication, and full-stack development. My background includes designing innovative hardware and software solutions for various applications.

Key Projects:

    - Real-time Audio Communication Device: Developed a device supporting 16 participants over 700 meters with 18-hour battery life using STM32 and Silicon Labs EFR32.
    - Android ROM Customization: Customized Android ROM for a video kiosk, added native USB camera support, and developed an over-the-air A/B update method.
    - Innovative Water Meter Solution (Y-Drip): Designed a product for real-time water usage data and leak detection with ultra-low power consumption.
    - Full Stack Development (Scalp Radar): Created a SAAS website for futures traders using Python, Django, and C#, with an automated license management system.
I'm currently seeking opportunities to leverage my skills in innovative projects, whether in embedded systems, software development, or full-stack applications. Open to remote work or on-site positions.

Experienced (mostly) backend developer, with 11 years on the record. Wearer of the DevOps hat when needed. Eager to share skills and learn.

Although I started by working with a strong team of contractors, I'm experienced in:

- working with minimal resources

- addressing large amounts of inherited tech debt

And thanks to much of that I now can:

- turn messy requirements into understandable tasks

- design and develop solutions of minimal complexity

- solve classes of problems rather than problems one by one

- deliver a really good developer experience, e.g. make real integration tests easy to write and fast to run

I believe that a good environment is one where knowledge spreads, people are eager to help, discussions are had, overenginnering is not permitted, and where 2 weeks of work are not spent to save on 2 solution design sessions.

I'm a generalist software engineer and tech lead with 9+ years of experience. I've lead teams of up to 8 developers in both green- and brownfield projects, and worked on all stages of the software development life-cycle, from requirements gathering to operations. Mostly back-end but also front-end.

You should hire me if you need a senior lead engineer to grow your team and system in a sustainable manner.

Hi, I'm Andrew Trettel. I'm a scientist with a PhD in mechanical engineering looking for any potential opportunities outside of academia. I have over a decade of experience in scientific research, especially on the numerical side. I have years of experience in writing software for and running large simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems. I have also developed software for non-scientific purposes, like creating user interfaces for desktop applications. I have years of experience working with large datasets, including the tasks of calculating statistics and developing hypotheses/models/theories from data. I've worn many hats over the years and love learning new and interesting topics.
