#158Remote: Probably required - far from a large city. Wouldn't have an issue with limited travel.
Technologies: AWS, Terraform, Python, TypeScript, Terraform, React, FastAPI, Postgres, Docker
Current: Contract work for [x] company doing RLHF / benchmark testing AI models in software dev, computer science and other areas. Sometimes its writing scripts to web scrape large data sets. Sometimes its coming up with input data for real world scenarios and benchmark testing models. It moves fast and varies a lot from quarter to quarter. Sometimes its working on Python tools for agents.
Prior: Grew up wannabe hacker in the 90s on AOL and IRC. Wrote my first programs in Visual Basic 3.0 and first websites on Angelfire and Geocities. Freelance web dev in the 2000s and founded/sold a few websites(nothing major obviously but led to some jobs at other places).
Education / Certs: AWS certifications. Current contract work requires many rounds of grueling FAANG type DSA questions with graphs and algorithm analysis before getting access to high paying work. No formal CS education but I do self-study CS with things Intro to Algs book, Coursera's Intro to Algos. Those qualifications were stressful and the hardest I've experienced yet in an interview. Pretty sure I was aging three times quicker than usual while doing them. I imagine most of my analysis was wrong on many questions but I did get some code to pass tests.
Seeking: I don't know. Current gig pays well but no benefits and inconsistent work from quarter to quarter. I love helping people, making demo videos/blogs/projects, writing documentation. I have a little bit of experience in a lot of areas, and work on review teams + Slack chats helping new colleagues.

#159Remote: Yes
Willing to relocate: no
Technologies: Embedded systems, automotive, machine learning, signal processing, data science, real time computing, safety processes (MISRA, ISO26262, etc), MATLAB, FPGA.
Resume: LinkedIn -- https://www.linkedin.com/in/wcunning
Email: wdocunningham@gmail.com
Background: Masters in control theory and signal processing, working in the auto industry for the last 7 years, first on low level powertrain software then the last year or so on LIDAR/computer vision for autonomous vehicles. I've done the most work in C, but I'm now contributing to safety development work with the Rust consortium and Ferrous Systems through my current employer. Recently had to read the Linux kernel source and use the BCC tool suite to find a subtle issue in the network stack causing high latency on sensor data for AV, also coincidentally fixed most of the network timing infrastructure.
Currently doing software defined vehicle software architecture with a focus on fail-safe and fail-operational, loosely coupled, distributed systems. This includes some standards contributions and work with high level suppliers like Nvidia and Renesas for next-generation software/hardware system co-development.
Primary skills include hard real time embedded systems, safety critical applications, firmware development, system integration and complex hardware/software interaction debugging, along with detailed data analysis problems.
Side interests include machining, 3D printing, embedded system development, coffee roasting and furniture making.
