SEEKING WORK - Remote, travel possible depending on location and duration.

Location: North-east UK

What I do: Senior backend dev / tech lead / fractional CTO

Are you being held back by a constraining architecture, slow backend, or a team lacking the depth of experience you need for the next stage of your growth?

Most recently CTO of a regtech startup, I've spent the past 20+ years in a wide variety of tech roles building both products and teams, giving me the perspective to get your project moving without being bound to a particular language or stack.

Previous work:

  - Deterministic AI for medical device regulations and other complex legal systems, including novel language and runtime for regulatory computing (Elixir, Raku, Rust)

  - EDI message passing / reconciliation for US dental health insurance market, including X12 parser (Clojure, Common Lisp, Perl, XQuery)

I'm happy to act as a reference for Alex as well. I found him on HN in Nov of 2022 and have worked frequently with him over the last year on a number of projects.

While junior, Alex is very very smart and often worked without oversight while I was busy with other concerns.

For reference: I have 23 years of development experience and now working on building a startup. My details can be found below (and on my profile) if you want to discuss Alex further.

Hey everyone! I am Shashank, a data, cloud and backend engineer with 8 years of experience. Currently, I am working at an Ad Tech security company where I specialise in building backend APIs, ETL pipelines, working on security tools, overhauling our architecture and deployment processes, and managing a small team on the enterprise vertical. Prior to this, I was a founding engineer and data engineer at a DeFi based music startup, where I single-handedly built the entire backend & data infrastructure, frontend dashboards, analytics and reporting system and most of the company's products. I also built the entire payments platform that empowered music artists by using Stripe Treasury to land actual USD payments in their bank accounts and led the engineering team to success.

Throughout my 8-year career, I have gained extensive experience in delivering products from concept to launch, designing architecture, product & infrastructure planning, and managing small teams.

I have been working fully remotely for New York based companies since the past 5 years from India and Europe(as a digital nomad). I am immediately available for work as well.

Freelance part time availability: 20-25 hours/week

Choose Don’t rely on Nulls for dependable software solutions; something that you can rely on. Together, we will conquer the fear of deploying your treasure into the real world. We have the from-first-principles ideas, the tools, and the will to make it work. Take a deep breath: you are one small step away from a brighter digital horizon — even if it is from zero you should not be afraid. The outcome will be pretty, and maintainable enough that you’d like to frame it. The price will be shocking to you (in a positive way) because of the number of developers you will have taking care of your project. What are you waiting for?
