I am currently technical lead and cofounder of Sempo, a finance startup that helps charities deliver financial aid to people affected by humanitarian crises. Sempo facilitates over a million aid payments a year, and is used by organisations such as the Red Cross, Oxfam and the UN in regions such as Kenya, Iraqi Kurdistan and Venezuela. In 2020, for my work on Sempo, I was named on Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list for Finance.

I'm passionate about all things data and building software to analyze and visualize large data sets, and that's what I have been doing in the past 15 years. I like to think out of the box and be creative, skills which have proved to be extremely important while being a co-founder of 2 start-ups.

I co-founded a consumer electronics company where I focused on growth hacking/marketing: building tools to automate and measure our social media activities, as well as measure the performance of our online ads, setting up experiments with ads and landing pages, creating our own email marketing tool which integrated with mailgun API to capture all the analytics of the campaigns into our own databases and to make sure we could rapidly prepare newsletters without the usual wrangling with web interfaces (mailchimp etc). Most of the code I wrote was in PHP, with SQL to query our MySQL databases.

Most recently I also co-founded a startup in algorithmic trading. My role is also data-driven. I build trading strategies in C++ and analyze large financial market datasets (100 GB per day intake). I've implemented more than 100 strategies and used my skills to find a few strategies that are consistently profitable, generating additional income for myself and my co-founder. My co-founder has a signal processing and computer science background, and is focusing on our infrastructure, data collection, visualisation tools, parallel simulation framework, etc.

I also previously worked for Google. I'm a generalist rather than a hardcore specialist, and picked up lots of skills by starting my own companies, beyond just coding. But I like coding and I'm not afraid to pull my sleeves up and use the tools necessary to get the job done.

I'm looking for a senior position as a data scientist or a quantitative researcher or developer (full-time or contracting).
