Over 20 years, I’ve led, architected, designed, and programmed across many projects, mostly in small teams (1–5). Most of my work focused on sports and TV, including video recording, archiving, encoding/playback pipelines, creating OTT portals, etc. Experienced in C# (web & desktop), JS/Typescript (Mithril, SolidJS), C++, and recently Rust (network bonding, audio intercom). Primarily worked with GCP (70%), AWS (20%), and Hetzner/OVH (10%). I enjoy building user-friendly, performant GUIs and backends with minimal dependencies, live event broadcast setups, networks, and remote global support. Currently pursuing 20–100 hours/month as a solo consultant, gradually building references.

I enjoyed creating projects from start up. I am not specifically good in single thing, but so far managed to make projects work and learn along the way.

Kia ora! Transitioning from academia to industry after PhD and 4+ years postdoc developing algorithms and open-source bioinformatics software. As so many of us here, I love solving complex and hard problems and learning new things. I am looking for software engineering or research scientist roles in any interesting domain. Where I would shine most is if it is related to optimization, algorithm development, data analysis, or operations research.

Over 15 years I've worked both in large corporations in cross-functional teams, small teams (5-10) at small to medium companies, and alone as a freelancer taking on projects across many different technologies. My focus in the past few years has been on being a force multiplier for my team and increasing predictability, stability, and developer enjoyment of output. I'm also a big proponent of mentoring and frequently create tech talks from the daily work notes I take so that the lessons from any challenges I face benefit not only me, but my team as well.

My preference is functional languages and companies that use Nix and/or NixOS, but it's more important to have a healthy company and team than any specific technology.

I also do Parkour in my free time, and I have given lessons to coworkers in the past who are interested :)
