Return | REMOTE | Ruby developer | Full-time

Return (https://return.energy) is hiring a software developer who will work on software that accelerates the transition to carbon-free energy. Our investment portfolio includes companies operating in the markets of large-scale solar parks, charging points for electric vehicles, industrial-scale batteries, CO2, sequestration, and green hydrogen production.

While our ventures employ over 100 people in total, Return’s technical team is still small. Our platform automates processes in sales, project management, procurement, construction, customer service, and energy production and trading. The first 50 venture employees are now using the platform and we are ready to scale up, which is why we are looking for an experienced Ruby developer to work alongside Return’s CTO and product owner.

You will be working on the areas that matter most to our ventures and that match your expertise and interest. Our tech stack is straightforward: Postgres, Ruby on Rails 7, Turbo, Stimulus, and Bootstrap. We tend to keep meetings to a minimum in order to provide at least five hours of uninterrupted coding time per day. We practice code reviews and apply automated and manual testing. The platform is deployed multiple times per week.

Return employs 15 people working from our offices in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Madrid. We’re very much open to working remotely as a developer as long as you live in the EU. Our hiring process is swift but thorough: a 30-minute call to get acquainted and discuss financials, one or more technical interviews, and a paid visit to Amsterdam or Madrid to meet the team.

The tech team members have co-founded several companies and have experience with remote development teams since 2008. They will personally help you through most of the recruiting process (there is no recruiter involved).

Raylu| Founding Software or ML engineer role| Remote or NYC

We're hiring founding Software Engineers and ML Engineers at Raylu.

There is immense demand for the next generation of software to be built with AI at every step - but only a small group of highly sophisticated ML engineers can build that future. Raylu is on a path to change the future of technology by putting ML in the hands of 30 million software engineers. Raylu is a development framework for creating machine learning (ML) based product features. Raylu is purpose-built for software engineers, translating the process and tooling of sophisticated ML into a familiar but powerful development tool.

Working at Raylu is a unique opportunity to join a small but exceptional team. Our true north is translating the rapidly evolving cutting edge of ML for the most difficult to please software consumers in the world, software engineers. As such, we’re looking for people who are technically fearless, ego-less learners, willing to wear many hats, and who are at their core entrepreneurial builders.

Superstruct | Jr Engineering Manager | REMOTE | Superstruct.tech

Want to help founders build out their SAAS products? At Superstruct we build and manage teams of software engineers. We are unconventional and not a good fit for everyone. Doing what you say you will is critical. Clear written communication is critical. We don't believe in hiring great people and getting out of the way. We think sprints and standups are stupid.

If want to learn more about our philosophy and how we help create productive senior engineers, check out https://manifesto.superstruct.tech

If any of this resonates with you drop me a line at david@superstruct.tech with the subject "HN EM" and we can chat.

MuKn | Remote, all timezones | Full-time or contract | https://mukn.io/

_Mutual Knowledge Systems_ https://mukn.io is hiring a project manager, a network protocol engineer, a cryptographer, and interns.

Our mission at MuKn (pronounced "moon") is to secure for each person full control on their computing devices and thereby enable universal decentralized computing. Our first customers are cryptocurrency networks and their users, who most than anyone today care to build systems that can't be hacked. Projects we are building include Glow https://glow-lang.org, our portable domain-specific language for Decentralized Applications (DApps), the Laconic Network https://laconic.com, a decentralized solution to indexing blockchain data, and more.

Our main language is Gerbil Scheme https://cons.io, but the ecosystems we work with often use Go (particularly for network protocols), TypeScript (particularly for web interfaces), and sometimes Haskell or Rust. We also use Agda to formalize parts of our codebase. All our code is open source.

As a project manager, you will have to herd a clowder of half-a-dozen to a dozen cats. As a network protocol engineer, your immediate tasks will involve writing code in Go. As a cryptographer, your tasks may involve Schnorr signatures or zk-SNARKs, including code in Scheme, Go or Rust. You should be willing to place nice with the other languages in our codebase.

We’re a fully remote team spread across many time zones. We like to keep meetings and policies to a minimum, and expect team members to manage their own time and communications.

Please send resumes to jobs@mukn.io. Any notable public discussion (on a mailing list, GitHub issue, etc.) where you changed your own mind or someone else’s mind would be great to see, too.

Pipe | Backend, Security, Data Science | Remote (global, but SF/NYC wages) | Full-time

Pipe (https://pipe.com) helps businesses grow by allowing them to sell future recurring revenue for cash today. We make a two sided marketplace for these revenue receivables (legally what we're doing is factoring).

For growing businesses: instead of selling equity (expensive, time consuming) or doing a debt round (expensive, time consuming) or getting other types of loans (expensive, time consuming), we plug in to your financial systems and underwrite you within 48 hours. As your revenues grow, we automatically adjust your trade limit. You always get the best price that the market is willing to provide for your revenue. Fast, easy, and no equity dilution.

Our team is currently about 25 engineers / 15 product+designers, and we're looking to bring on a few more key engineers on the backend, security, and data science side of things. We’re also open to very experienced frontend candidates, but it’s less of a need right now. The security engineering job is primarily about using your backend skills to accomplish security-related projects -- previous security expertise is a plus, but not required.

In terms of seniority, we’re looking for IC/Tech-lead shaped senior engineers; we have a healthy mix of experience levels on our current team, but would like to bring on more senior talent at the moment to help with a few key projects and expand our mentoring capabilities. Ideologically, we'd love to hire all types of engineers and be able to help them grow within the company, but right now we're too bandwidth constrained to hire for additional junior positions.

We use Postgres, Golang, Kubernetes, Next.js/React/Typescript. We are entirely remote and don't scale wages based on geography (disrespectful, unfair, archaic.) We pay strong US-based (NYC/SF) wages and have a philosophy of keeping the team relatively small so that we can all grow and have a large impact on the company's trajectory. We'd rather spend money on good tooling and processes than wasting it "hyperscaling" our team size.

* Senior Backend Engineer: https://pipe.com/job/4925995003

* Security Engineer: https://pipe.com/job/5292782003

* Data Scientist - Credit Risk: https://pipe.com/job/4968830003

If you're interested, you can apply either through our jobs page (preferred) or by emailing our team directly (careers@pipe.com).
