IMC Financial Markets | Software Engineer, Developer Productivity ; Linux SRE | Chicago | ONSITE | Full-time | http://www.imc.com

DevProd: We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our small Developer Productivity team. The team improves developer experience with a particular focus on build speed, verification tooling, and codebase improvements using the Bazel build system in our Java/C++/etc codebase. In this generalist role you'll often dive deep to solve problems all across our tech stack to provide high-quality tooling and services to our internal developer community.

Primary languages: Starlark (Bazel's subset of Python), shell scripting/Linux proficiency, C++ & Java familiarity. Our technology organization is growing steadily, which means maintaining the simplicity and speed of our software builds is more valuable than ever and regularly presents new and interesting challenges.

Linux SRE: Almost everything we do is on-prem bare-metal as opposed to cloud, and we're hiring SREs with deep Linux systems experience to provision, operate, and improve our global server fleet. Both growing scale and low-latency requirements regularly present new problems to solve. The team is small and often works closely with colleagues across the org in a collaborative environment. Python and Puppet experience a plus. While there are occasional issues requiring off-hours attention, there is no on-call rotation.

To get started, email me at the address listed in my profile with "HN AUG" in the subject.

(Even though this lists ONSITE, we've been operating fully remote during COVID and are currently piloting a hybrid setup)

======

IMC is among the world’s leading technology-driven trading firms, and a market maker in securities listed on exchanges across the globe. High-performance algorithms, smart strategies, and collaborative teams are the core of our business.

Voltus | Frontend/Backend/Data/SRE/Systems | Remote | Full-Time

We are a team of engineers and energy experts working to get our customers paid for using less energy. Our customers are energy consumers (factories, skyscrapers, warehouses, steel mills...) who will commit to curtailing their demand on a signal from us. We aggregate those "curtailable" buildings into virtual power plants that we sell to utilities and other buyers in wholesale energy markets, splitting the revenue with our customers. Our virtual power plants are cleaner and cheaper than the coal and oil plants they replace.

Along the way we have to solve some hard problems:

  - trade energy in an international patchwork of wholesale power markets
  - convince a wide variety of factory foreman and building managers to cease their operations when they would really rather not
  - make hundreds of commercial and industrial buildings behave like a single, reliable generator in every way
We're currently hiring for a wide variety of roles--check our posts for more info. https://www.voltus.co/join-us

If you're interested in chatting please email me: max at voltus.co

Savvy | Remote | Full-time | https://savvy.insure Savvy is completely revolutionizing the way that people shop for car insurance. Instead of filling out countless forms answering questions that nobody knows the answers to, Savvy uses a Plaid-for-insurance API to extract a person’s existing policy information and automatically retrieves offers for insurance shoppers. This transformation in the car insurance shopping experience empowers consumers to get the best deal and has helped people save millions on their auto insurance.

Savvy is already a profitable, healthy business, but we’re looking to expand our fully-remote team so we can grow the business - pulling in additional offers to help users find better deals, offering other types of insurance to help users save even more on their policies. Members of our team value extreme ownership, speed, collaboration, and craftsmanship - if these values resonate with you, you’ll fit right in!

A modern, cloud-based tech stack powers our systems behind the scenes - a mix of Kubernetes orchestrated pods and serverless API endpoints does the heavy lifting. We’re a JS shop, so JavaScript everywhere, all the time - React on the front end, Node / TypeScript on the backend (they had to stop me from using a PLV8-enabled PostgreSQL instance). Our comprehensive CI suite (3000+ automated tests on a codebase Here are our openings:
