SEEKING WORK

I'm based in Germany, used to syncing with US timezones. Been building software for a living for 18 years now, 8 of those as CTO for two different companies (one I grew from 7 to 250 employees). Went into consulting to become more flexible and get more diverse experience.

I built a bunch of teams and products during those years, so I offer a variety of things, from fractional/interim CTO to technical freelance work:

1. Building software (and teams) from scratch

2. Helping out with specific technical or organisational problems

3. Supporting and/or coaching an existing CTO or similar, taking work off their desk and setting up a situation where things work smooth without me

4. Helping you find and train a solid CTO or other technical manager

5. Keeping outsourcing companies honest by ensuring their work and staff aligns with what you agreed on

6. Technical and organisation due diligence

I do this stuff part time or full time, depending on what you need. Technologically, I'm a generalist who worked in various areas and with most common stacks by now (and some uncommon ones). Probably strongest with web development (JavaScript, TypeScript, React), Android and iOS development, game development, followed by C++, JVM and Python. Also did significant work in Ruby (mostly Rails), Rust, C# and various Lisps.

Drop me a line at consult@dahlke.tech if interested, I offer one free consultation. I'm available for bigger projects starting in May.

SEEKING WORK

I have been refining a platform I have built for some time now and am looking for clients to use it. It could be considered 'GIS in a box'. It consists of a Hasura based GraphQL Postgres and GIS backend, with React in combination with Deck.gl on the front end.

Having worked at many start ups and GIS shops and seen their attempts to build out their platforms, I have seen various mistakes, duplicated effort, incorrect architecture, limited testing environments. My stack solves all of these, and I come with a lot of expertise in how to design a front end to convey the 'data story' your product is trying to tell.

The stack is a CDK based, one click to deploy, multi stage set up. A particularly nice feature is Hasura's database deployment scripts, allowing database changes to be committed. Also out of the box, it allows tight permissioning, performant SQL etc. It has taken me a long long time to get this far and end up with a fully working stack.

Thinking more about the frontend, I have got to a place where I have a large library of abstracted Deck.gl solutions that I have worked on. I am strong React developer, and typically use Ant Design or Mantine for UI, and I have contacts that can help make your app look beautiful very quickly.

I am looking for clients in the GIS space who need a backend and front end out of the box, along with training and development offered. I genuinely feel that my offering here will allow you to focus on solving the business case your start up was for, instead of wasting time on repeating solved problems.
