I am currently working as a software engineer for a large web hosting company. I'd like to change roles to work somewhere I can learn more and work remotely full-time. I'd really appreciate a team that values simplicity. When writing HTTP APIs in Golang, I'd like to be able to use just the standard lib, instead of a Perl compiler that transforms a set of YAML files into a gargantuan caricature of an enterprise Java web server.

I am an excellent communicator, that is probably my greatest strength. I'm curious, I'm honest, and I'm kind. My favorite feedback from a manager that I've gotten is that I get along with everyone. I greatly appreciate logical rigor, and make a sincere effort to regularly examine my beliefs, in order to discard useless or false ones. I have a solid mathematical background - my undergrad and master's were both in mathematics, with a specialization in theoratical computer science and discrete math, and I regularly practice maths, often with friends, for the fun of it. I love software. If you want some examples of my latest work, I encourage you to go look at my codeberg account:

If you think you might enjoy working with me, I'd love to hear from you.

I don’t come from a traditional software background (I’ve worked in mechanical/robotics) so this is a mega shot in the dark considering the job market, but I’ve built several projects you can look at an I’m very eager to learn. Open to internships, and contracting as well.

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work, but I am open to work on any interesting project. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.

I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.

I value good teamwork over fancy tech, and I don't shy away from working on legacy code. I am primarily motivated by solving problems, so let me help you solve your problems.

I am open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.

While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.

In addition, I want to use some of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. I also sponsor children that otherwise can't afford to go to school (see my website). If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.

I took time after my previous role to focus on my relationships, family, and personal interests. Now I'm looking to bounce back and get involved with a company that will push me to deliver both high impact and high quality work. With over 3 years of working with ETL pipelines and REST API integrations and development, I understand how to develop and maintain robust and scalable data systems. I'm ready to leverage past experience to help improve back-end systems, and take on more responsibilities that position me to learn, grow, and deliver value.
