Technologies: Experienced product manager, currently at a large US-based corporate firm working as a senior PM for two companies it owns. I'd like to step back away from the corporate feeling. Focused primarily on IDEs and code tooling, with a focus on C++, but I enjoy all kinds of customer-facing product and they don't need to be high-tech: I like understanding customers, solving problems, and making great UIs that are genuinely usable (ones that are not just current, but also genuinely help people get their work done.) I'm no longer a professional programmer (just in my spare time), but I have a long history as a developer before I became a PM and understand development well.

I prefer impactful technology. Currently the tools I manage are relied on by many worldwide, and I've worked before on tools used by scientists that helped drive eco-based political policy or climate change research among more. Dream job would be influencing UX at Apple; otherwise at Firefox (because I love the open web and support non-Chromium engines; I'm posting this from Firefox.) But, if you can forgive listing a dream job at a company that may not be yours in the previous sentence :) I would value any product and company that has a positive influence on the world. If you have a positive impact and culture, I will value your goals and can work very well to help you.

I've grown and run big(-ish) and small companies as CTO and even general manager, though I'm probably best when close to the programmers and code.

Mainly looking for 3-6 month engagements to help out tech managers under pressure, take on interim leadership roles, help grow your team, or get your (legacy) code base in shape for what the business needs.

My approach is to spend a few months of focused time, help you make and train the right hires and then gently move into regular consultations. That's big talk, since I'm just starting out with this consulting business of mine :P But I did do all of the above before as employee or shareholder.

I'm happy to take on-site work in my area or do some traveling, but since almost all the teams I've built were either fully remote or hybrid, that's certainly my strength.
