The big one for me was realizing I don’t have to be “on” all day. Slack stays muted, I check it when I’m between things, and I have a hard stop at the end of the day. Otherwise WFH turns into being kinda at work 24/7, which sucks pretty fast.

Just turn off all notifications and use your comms apps in pull mode (checking them at a time of your choosing) instead.

Do the same with your phone.

People can wait. And they know it. No sensible person is expecting sync comms anymore. Those that still do, are shit out of luck.

Start early, before everyone is working. Or late, when everyone stopped. Block "focus" periods in your calendar, disabling notifications.

That's exactly my experience. I achieve more in those 2 hours than in the rest of the day.

100% true. Those 2 uninterrupted hours in the morning save the entire day from feeling like a scramble. Glad to hear it works for you too!

100% on point. Shifting Slack and phone to strict pull mode completely kills that low-grade anxiety of feeling monitored. Game changer for continuous deep focus.
