It explains how different infrastructure (electrical grid, roads, trains etc) are built and arranged. A beautiful book, with everything simply explained - chock full of wow/ah-ha moments.

#12tl;dw: It is well known that the universe expands, tracing this back in time leads to the singularity called the Big Bang. But is it possible to ask for a "before" the beginning of time? What is time? Time is what we measure with clocks. What are clocks? Something that returns to the same state (say, a pendulum, or the earth orbiting around the sun - a "year"). To be able to build a clock you need mass. Only objects with mass, moving below the speed of light, experience time. In the very far future, after all stars have burned out, the only objects remaining will be black holes. Eventually, even they will decay due to Hawking radiation. So in the end, there will be only expanding space, and radiation that "travels to infinity". Photons themselves do not experience time as they move with the speed of light. Without mass, without anything that has a notion of time, the concept of distance becomes meaningless. The universe will become spacelike. Without distances, the universe may as well be a singular point. Like the Big Bang :)

#15I studied CS and graduated top of my class and have 20 years of experience and learnt the past couple of years that now all that matters is grinding leetcode and my degree and experience are mostly ignored.
No offense, but what exactly are you hoping to accomplish? Because this certainly can’t be a productive use of your time and seems quite unhealthy for your psyche.

#16Rice cookers. Damned clever. I wish toasters worked on a similar concept.
My last workplace banned toasters from the office kitchens because they would set off the smoke alarms and the fire brigade would be called.

#17Not really wow, but makes me smile when I parse +100 lines in under 10s. Coworker might be impressed if you can pull it off on the spot. Too bad some editors are not emulating it too well.

I recognize your username from your frequent posts complaining about leetcode. No offense, but what exactly are you hoping to accomplish? Because this certainly can’t be a productive use of your time and seems quite unhealthy for your psyche.
