SkyGeo | Scientific Software Developer | Delft, Netherlands or REMOTE | Full Time | https://skygeo.com/

We are a young and dynamic data-driven company with the goal to measure the world. We use advanced satellite technology, InSAR, to detect the slightest movements of the earth’s surface anywhere in the world. Our in-house technologies are used across various industries from mining to civil engineering to give customers ways to monitor, alert and quantify their assets.

While we are not a start-up anymore and fully fund ourselves we still value creative problem-solving, flat hierarchies, and everybody having a voice to build the best global monitoring product possible.

Our primary language of choice is Python. Being a geospatial company, we use tools such as Rasterio, Pyproj, GeoPandas, and PyGEOS. We process large amounts of data, which means we have to be very deliberate about performance and scalability. This means we do vectorized operations using Numpy, compile with Numba where possible, and utilize lazy evaluation solutions, such as Dask provides.

Since we are dealing with complex data, a (geo-)scientific background is a plus. As a Scientific Software Developer at Skygeo, you will be operating on the interface between mathematics, geo-data analytics, and programming.

We are looking for both mid-level and senior engineers to help grow and maintain our scientific software toolchain.

If you have deployed apps to the cloud, have worked with large data sets, and value to conceptualize and build features for a growing product in a small team we would like to hear from you.

Our team is somewhat distributed between Europe and the US, while we value office time in our HQ in Delft, we are also open to remote work or hybrid in our NYC office if you can overlap with the rest of the team at core hours of 13:00 - 17:00 CET.

Feel free to apply via above link, or send me an email at stephan.meyerzab at skygeo.com

Our API powers some of the most established and recognisable brands in the rail retail space (particularly where split-ticketing is involved) such as TrainSplit, SplitMyFare, Railboard and others. We provide both B2C and B2B services. We are a remote-first organisation; we have engineers in a variety of locations across the UK. TrainSplit | Backend Software Engineer | Remote, office in London | Permanent/PAYE (open to discussing contract opportunities) | Must be UK Based

------------

We're currently looking for a backend software engineer to work on our industry-leading API and associated services. We’re looking for someone UK-based who will be able to work on our .NET-based services which are written in C#. We have a variety of smaller services written in Golang, too.

For more information about the role and our API’s architecture, please see https://trainsplit.com/backend-engineer (PDF).

The project you'd work on: https://quine.io Scala engineers with experience designing, building, and optimizing compilers: Mid- and Senior- Levels thatDot has created the world's first Streaming Graph, called "Quine" to make interpreting high-volume data streams dramatically faster and easier [1]. After 7 years of DARPA-funded research and development with a fantastic team of engineers, it's a game-changing core infrastructure technology. Our products are used by major security companies to do real-time behavioral analysis, monitor and triage their alarms, and automate remediation of security threats. We're an early-stage venture backed company, and now is a great time to join! We believe strongly that each person should get more from their job than just a paycheck! It should be interesting, provide a chance to learn new things, help advance your career, work with amazing and kind people, and be fun! A person ≠ their opinions. We value individual people who know how to disagree productively with each other so we can all learn. We deliberately cultivate a space where learning new things is the goal. Non-traditional backgrounds (i.e. non-CS degrees) are strongly encouraged; philosophy majors wanted! Tools in our stack - NOT REQUIRED if you're willing to learn: - Scala. We happily use pragmatic functional programming on the JVM. - Akka. The Actor model is at the heart of what we do. - Akka Streams. Backpressure is the ideal way to approach streaming data. - Databases like Cassandra, RocksDB, and more. - …and the right tool for the job.
