I had an idea to create commercial service for this; but I'm afraid it would cost me too much to transcribe videos. Short videos are not costly to transcribe but hours long videos are. At the end of the day I might do it because Moore's law is our friend and it should get cheaper and cheaper over the years.

#12There's https://filmot.com/ which searches/indexes on YouTube captions and will take you right to the point in the video that matches your search.
thanks. I am looking for my own videos and particulary not youtube. The idea is to host my own videos on my site to be able to search them. Therefore looking for an opensource solution
If it is just for your own videos, you don't need a video search solution - you need a transcription process or service. Then you would have timestamped words/phrases, which you could put into a database and just query/search that DB.
