Does HN have a shadow ban mechanism?

Yes, but primarily for new accounts: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu....

Once an account has an established history, we say publicly that we're banning it: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Seems like it. I think I'm shadowbanned. @dang Is that so? Why?

You're banned, but not shadowbanned, because we told you here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26930848 .

"Please don't post ideological battle comments?" What bullshit. It's happening all the time, it's just that you don't perceive them as such. Well, stew in your echo chamber.

We didn't shadowban you as such, but software kills comments when account karma goes below an extremely low threshold. That's because accounts basically never reach that state without getting involved in some guidelines-breaking flamewar. A quick look at your commenting history suggests that this was the case here. We warned you repeatedly, in fact: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25751171 https://news.ycombinat…

this website is garbage, these mods keep flagging and now I can't even post a comment.
