Reef Technology | Software Engineers Back End, Front End, Full Stack, Dev Ops and Engineering manager | Los Angeles, CA (REMOTE US) | Full-Time | https://reeftechnology.com/

What will cities look like in 10 years? What will replace the 20th century shopping malls? How will people move, how will they buy things, how will they work?

I help run an emerging technologies department at a soft-bank backed multi-billion dollar company where we're trying to incubate, trial balloon and scale answers to these questions today.

We operate in over 200 cities at over 4,500 locations. We're working on dynamic and modular real world systems so we can pivot or preserve our answers to these questions and work at the speed of startups in the physical world.

If you consider yourself to have a broad set of competencies such as being able to do full-stack web apps but also know how to say use solidworks and set up the supply chain or some other aspect of engineering or product building, this would likely be a good match.

Let's build the future we were promised. Come be a part of it.

Drop me a line, I look forward to hearing from you: (my hn name)@gmail.com

SimBioSys, Champaign or Chicago, IL | Deep Learning Scientist | ONSITE (post-covid)

SimBioSys (http://www.simbiosys.com) develops tools to enable oncologists to predict how a patient would respond to treatment using physically-based computational simulations. We are looking for scientists who are interested in developing neural network models to analyze 3D medical imaging data. You will be involved in the planning and development of core components of our technology while working closely with software engineers, computational biologists, and clinicians. Depending on your experience, this could be a leadership role including managerial duties over junior team members.

SimBioSys is on a mission to deploy Computational Oncology to transform decision making and patient experience in Cancer Care. By virtualizing cancer, both clinicians and patients are empowered with a better understanding of the disease and can assess all available options computationally to truly individualize treatment.

If sounds like something that you'd be into, apply at https://simbiosys-inc.breezy.hr. Please also send me an email at tme@simbiosys.com, so I know you read my post on HN.

BiasSync | Backend Engineer (Python) | Los Angeles (open to remote in similar tz) | Full-time

BiasSync is a mission-driven startup working to help companies and employees understand, manage, and mitigate unconscious bias’s impact in the workplace. We’ve started with a focus on race & gender bias but are building tools looking at other biases as well.

We get to work with academic researchers, top diversity & inclusion experts and others to create something that really changes workplaces and is unlike traditional boring D&I training.

Our backend is built with Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, Terraform, and a ton of AWS services—especially Lambda. But we're really looking for passionate folks who can learn, so if you use a different stack, still reach out. Our front-end is build in React/TS and our data science side is PANDAS-centric. We’re looking for a backend engineer to join and help build out

Being interested in diversity & inclusion, changing workplace cultures, psychology/psychometrics, and stats are all plusses.

Nearby | Remote (US Timezones) | Full-Time, Remote-OK | https://nearbyhq.com

Nearby is empowering small businesses and the people who love them. Our company was founded in May 2020 on a simple premise: people want to buy from stores that are run by people in their community. We're setting out to build a better way to shop locally—with all the conveniences and user experience you’d expect from a big tech company, but for the independent shops in local communities that have historically been left behind by them.

We’re building marketplaces like our first pilot in Oakland, California: Keep Oakland Alive. And behind those marketplaces, we’re building the toolset merchants need to thrive in a hybrid offline+online world.

Our team is composed of experienced, passionate people distributed across North America. Founded during the Covid-19 shelter-in-place, we currently all work from home and rely on tools like Slack and Zoom to support our work style, which is collaborative yet values self-initiative. That’s where you come in.
