SEEKING WORK | Providence, RI | Remote, or partial on-site in Boston or NYC

I have 20 years of software engineering experience across contract and employee roles in Boston, Silicon Valley, and southern California. My greatest broad areas of expertise are:

- Web engineering (primarily Python)

- Relational database design and development

- Data engineering, web scraping, big data

- Cloud hosting and architecture

My web engineering specialties are: tools, APIs, analytics, process automation, reporting, content management.

My rate is $100-$125/hour, but I can give a fixed quote for a well-understood project. I'm available for either short term or ongoing work.

I enjoy research and learning and won't charge for my time spent on those, however if a project or role isn't already close to my expertise or it's outside the boundaries of what I'm sure I can deliver well and on time, I won't take it on.

If you have an interesting side project/business you need an engineer partner for, also feel free to contact me.

SEEKING FREELANCER | Remote only, any timezone

I am currently working on a large project and may need occasional short-term sub-contracting work. Think initial cloud set-up, mutual code reviews, etc. As far tasks go I'll be assigning work but would really like another senior who can take a feature and run with in. The stack is more-or-less set but there are still a few things left to determine. Most of the work will be short tasks (a week or three) and the project is estimated to be complete by the end of this year. You can be in any timezone, but I am primarily working on this after my dayjob, so approximately 21:00-02:00 UTC during the week. Availability to discuss initial specs during that time is a plus but not required; you can do the work whenever (and where ever) is best for you.

Tech: Node, Vue, Azure CosmosDB, RabbitMQ

My email is in my profile, please send a link to your GitHub profile or other portfolio of work

SEEKING FREELANCER | Remote only

PROJECT 1: I need a web crawler built, with the following properties: given a URL, it should completely render the page in a headless browser, then save a flat (HTML + images) version of the fully rendered page, a WARC file with all page resources, and a thumbnail screenshot. The project will include some mechanism for adding credentials for crawling paywalled sites. I prefer that the coding itself be done in Python, but have no restrictions on what other stuff you rope in to get the job done.

PROJECT 2: Given a podcast URL, do your best to retrieve it and transcribe it into a readable text version.

If you're interested in either, send me a brief description of who you are, your CV, and what you charge for your time. maciej@ceglowski.com
