Congratulations, you must be one of the first ones :) Makes sense to give re-applicants preference if they have developed well since last time.
3x time or so growth. we'll see. more excited than anyone else actually :)

#14I just asked in https://yc.metachat.com/ about the timeline for invites / rejections and learned that they should be sent out around 8pm PST

FAKE ALERT! Guys DO NOT enter this link. It's from DISGUSTING and very dumb THIEVES. (i won't even call them hackers because i hacked them in less than 30 seconds) 1) The YCombinator is not the owner of the domain. It's a fake company registered in the Cayman Islands. 2) They are trying to rob your passwords to steal your businesses. The YC login in that page is fake. 3) They couldn't even set up a https server LMFAO…
1. Nowhere do they claim to be affiliated with YCombinator. I'm not sure why do you think YC would be the owner of the domain.
2. The company registered in the Cayman Islands is not the owner of metachat.com but the Whois Privacy company owned by the domain registrar.
3. Where do you see a "YC login" on that page? They have their own registration and login page. If you put your YC username and password in there... let's just it's pretty ironic for you to be calling someone else "very dumb".

I'm not sure if you're a troll or just ignorant, but my startup is all about fake news, so I'll take this on. 1. Nowhere do they claim to be affiliated with YCombinator. We applied to YCW18 and wanted something that aggregated news about it and gave us the opportunity to chat with other people who have applied. If you would login, you would see there is quite some activity. I'm sure there are many areas of improvement to be found.
To come back to your list of critiques: 1) We are not affiliated with YC, nor do we claim to be. @vinaipay already pointed out your misunderstanding about the company's domain owner. 2) Registration is a standard Laravel component that hashes your password. 3) We are loading external images from rss feeds which are not over https. Maybe that is what you are referring to.
Things we will do: 1) We are putting a disclaimer on the website that we are not affiliated with YC 2) When and if this side project becomes something more than a side project, we will invest time and money to store the images and send them to you over https
Note: I was tempted to write this entire post in all caps :)
Have a great day!
