SEEKING WORK - Contract, Remote, based in NYC area, backend engineer

I am a backend expert, having built and maintained highly available systems for several companies over the last 5 years, in addition to over 20 total years of software development experience.

The primary service I offer is managed Site Reliability Engineering in high to medium ambiguity environments where the client would prefer not to micromanage day to day development. If you have systems (or need systems built) that must firmly meet, and prove they meet, their Service Level Agreements: I can help.

If the work requires a team, I will bring a team. If it is a one-person job, that is also fine. Your goals are my priorities. My rates are reasonable in exchange for the value I deliver.

Concrete examples (scratch built systems/teams, where I was sole or lead engineer):

* built and deployed an AWS Lambda architecture replatforming portfolio management for a ~3 yo startup hedge fund

* built a ~50 node, Dockerized, Terraform-deployed distributed system to provide realtime, transformed trade data from crypto exchanges to a Kafka pipeline and data lake (fodder for an analytics platform). Met 5000msec SLA across arbitrarily many exchanges and ticker symbols. Blue-green deployment for complete CICD safety. Cloudwatch metrics proved SLA was met and provided general system oversight.

* built a framework to collapse dozens of singleton ETL programs into one config-driven, simple C# application performing the same functionality at ~80% reduction in maintenance cost year over year.

* built and managed a team of 8 engineers operating against multiple streams of work to meet business needs, with ~12 active projects at a time.

SEEKING WORK -- REMOTE or Local SF

Location: San Francisco, CA

Willing to relocate: No

Technologies: Ruby, Python, Javascript, Vue, Haskell, Scala

Resume/CV: available upon request.

Email: hnwwthread@gmail.com

I'm a principal-level individual contributor with 14 years of full-stack experience in a wide variety of technologies, languages, and problem spaces.

I've led and developed teams of up to twelve engineers, have years of experience in a technical product ownership role, and have been fully responsible for the architecture, initial implementation, and ongoing production management and maintenance for systems currently used by millions in the health care space.

These include no-code web builders for forms and whole applications that have saved thousands of developer-hours and millions of dollars, HIPAA-compliant, versioned and fully-auditable data stores, configurable streaming data infrastructure system, and a workflow engine that is responsible for the coordination of a live production application that serves millions.

I view myself as a strong individual contributor who acts as both a force-multiplier for the team and a critical communications hub by being able to understand and translate the needs of a variety of stake-holders due to my truly full-stack business experience.

SEEKING FREELANCER | REMOTE Culture Biosciences has a small contract available to improve out our in-lab barcode scanning system.

About 1 month of work, with the possibility of follow on work.

The project would involve fixing bugs and adding well defined features to our Android scanner system.

Experience in Kotlin, Android, and Python is highly preferred-- but more important that you have a very proactive communication style, ability to resolve ambiguity, and can-do-attitude.

Reach out to me at satshabad@culturebiosciences.com with the subject "Muninn Contract"
