What rubbish - only fools will believe that Russia has an interest in starting a nuclear WW3. Historically, Russia has never militarily attacked any NATO country. (And most of the NATO countries are already militarily weaker than Russia - what has stopped NATO's or Russia's military adventurism, against each other, is the fear of the nuclear weapons that both sides have). Since the cold war ended Russia has only tried to become part of the west. There wouldn't be a European Union if Russia hadn't voluntarily left East Germany and acceded to its re-unification. Naive Gorbachev (and even a political fool, I would venture) and a drunk Yeltsin bent over backwards to accommodate many western demands that encroached on Russia's sphere of influence, and even diminished it, in the hope of earning their trust.

The Anglo-Americans didn't want an independent and united Europe, with Russia a part of it, because it undermines their own influence in the region. The future will judge them poorly for it because what could have been a region of peace and prosperity, post-USSR, could now be the arena for yet another WW.

I heard something when it was about a war against Ukraine and now look were we are.

Russia in the 12th year of their unprovoked conflict with Ukraine and the 4th year of their full-scale invasion. Putin has stated multiple times his desire and intention to "restore" the russian empire, which necessarily entails attacking NATO states.

Much of the other claims you make are simply false and seem to correspond to typical russian troll-farm propaganda.

Putin's regime threatens western Europe in general with nuclear strikes on a weekly basis. With Russia facing an eminent collapse in Ukraine, naturally Putin is desperately looking for a way out of his mess that doesn't end up with him killed. Fabricating a "NATO caught us with the pants down and we had to defend the homeland at all cost" tall tale is the kind of desperate move that can be expected from the character,as it's far better than having to explain a new Kherson-style collapse 4 years into a 3-day special military operation.

>unprovoked conflict with Ukraine

The promise of NATO membership in 2008[0] and a coup "midwifed" by the US in 2014[1] is not provocative enough for you?

>Putin has stated multiple times his desire and intention to "restore" the russian empire

Where have you read that?

What a horribly reductive and downright insulting view of Eastern European politics.

Is this some sort of joke? The biggest enemy of Civilized Europe was, is and always will be a Russian state with imperial ambitions. Read a damn history book.
