Nalanda is in east India and not North-east as mentioned in the article. But this is written more like a coffee table book anyways...

around 90 years ago something very similar happened near the river Brahmaputra. I suspect it was the same phenomenon.

No need to get bothered. Not everyone took science classes after high school.

I understand your point but I think that they can go to cheaper localities and start life there. New places will develop consequently. Many times that's how new cities form.

There are plenty of places to relocate.
