I dunno... the polygon the author drew is only about half the area of California. On the other hand it's kinda cheating to put the major cities at the corners.

I feel like 90% of writing software is identifying which "trick" applies to the problem you're trying to solve and applying it correctly.

It doesn't matter what the password is protecting on any particular site. Password reuse is common enough -- who knows what else the user is protecting with that password.

Also, this was way back in 1998, when what we would consider sloppy today was par for the course.
