Hey HackerNews, it’s Saud here. I’m based in Pakistan and I’ve been diving into backend development and DevOps for quite a while now, doing it all remotely. I’ve spent the last few years working on scaling backend systems, being on-call for those unexpected emergencies, and figuring out the ins and outs of payment integrations.

I had a great time working as a Founding Engineer at Fluent, a Canadian company. Even though I was working from home, I was very much involved, helping to manage over 50k installs and working hard to reduce load times, which really helped keep our users happy.

Before Fluent, I was with SoFriendly as a Full-stack Developer. Again, working remotely, I led the development of DraftXR and got to explore the Adobe XD plugin ecosystem. I even contributed to an open-source library, which was a pretty cool experience.

Outside of work, I’m a big gamer. I’ve been playing games since I was a kid, and it’s actually what got me interested in software development. I used to play CS:GO a lot and reached Global Elite. Recently, I’ve started playing CS:GO 2, just for fun.
