    Very cool idea. Right now I'm using autossh to keep a reverse ssh tunnel open. It works reliably, but the performance is awful. Great work!

    Sounds like he was using an automated scanner as well. That's a stupid thing to do and he should be in trouble. I'm not sure he should be expelled, but definitely reprimanded.
