Good thoughts, except for Firefox 'not doing great right now'. I've switched over for almost a year now, both for regular and development use, haven't looked back.

I had similar thoughts initially. After understanding erlang's OTP concepts, it all became clear. Phoenix's simplicity combined with the power of erlang&otp is fantastic.
