Neural network performing approximations are not suitable for such a task. Surely, AI will play a role, but for safety and robustness will require deterministic control system.

Control systems for this machine is a beast. I surely think this is not a clear picture. Seeing self-driving car development over the past decade doesn't give me lot of hope either…
