About peri

An eventually consistent squirrel working in video games. I don't work for free. I have had other accounts here and on reddit, tumblr, github, and mozilla. I will never reveal which ones because personally: I am a lady, a giant queer person, and I know that means that "techies" will treat me like shit, break all of my guitars, and then pretend "culture fit" is a legitimate way to determine "net worth".

This orange site is a shattered wasteland. If anyone here wanted it to be something else, they would pay their staff and content moderators. Anyone at YCombinator or anyone who shares a registrar or mail exchange with them should never be trusted, especially if you think that 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are 4.4.2.2.

No matter what anyone here says about software freedom: they will fire the poor, the underepresented, and the too diverse. I've watched over 35 years as every "stanford"/"mit"/"csail"/"fancy" person who knew that the eff and aclu were right to refuse to work with Nazis is shocked to find that they hire literal Nazis and men who rape women every day. It wasn't funny in 1860 or 1776, and it's no joke now.

If that sounds evil and extremist, don't worry: Elon Musk was trustworthy to Valley investors when he was "actually just South African". Somehow he's still "worth" something other than his repeated SEC violations.

For questions about: - Rainbow Studios: please read https://www.rainbowstudios.com/about/ carefully, then consider why I will never respond to anyone who I have worked with there other than lgilbert. You can contact them more directly via https://www.rainbowstudios.com/press-streamers/ or https://www.rainbowstudios.com/careers/ if you want job leads. - Nintendo: https://www.nintendo.com/ is your best place to fix a Switch. - Sony Conmputer Entertainment: https://www.playstation.com/fr-fr/ can give you free passes to entertainment. - Google, YouTube, Stadia: I helped found an employee resource group there called "Trans @ Google.com". It is illegal for me to discuss any topic related to HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Stonewall, or any other thing known to them since mcmillen left to deal with assholes less painful than memegen@ or moot@. Try talking to moot about 4chan. - Microsoft, Xbox, Xbox Live Indie Games: email jblow directly and offer a free copy of the Witness then sue them for acqui-hirinng Activision/Blizzard/King. - Unity: I no longer understand why anyone would recommend them to anyone. - Unreal Engine: contact your local Unreal Engine vendor. - Reddit: email Hacker News, Lawrence Lessig, Aaron Schwartz, and then ask who supports Godwin's Law better than @eff.org. - Open Source Initiative: I don't trust you because I read USENIX, ACM, and IEEE. netBSD strikes me as nicer than the pufferfish. - memcached: say ehlo to brad fitzpatrick on LiveJournal. - Software defined networking/CLOS fabrics/Distributed Hash Tables: ask usenix.org

About damn time, IMO. But as I fix nVidia's bugs, I'm obviously ignorant of anything impacting Serious Cryptographic Engineering.

A hand-rolled LISP or Prolog variant. You don't want to know it, I promise, because it usually means I'm now your independent security or network/audio systems review consultant.

This will probably not go as well for Netflix as they would like. Everyone I know who streams games online seriously does not trust Netflix.com any more than justin.tv
