ZCash's doesn't offer nearly the same privacy features as Monero does. Monero is basically internet cash- totally untraceable.

Who is "we"? Shell overuse is really a phenomenon seen in low-level packages.. where people for some reason don't want to reach out to perl/python/whatever

I don't hear nearly as much about ZCash as I do about Monero, but it sounds like it might be more appealing to regulators and exchanges.
