I was able to improve things somewhat by going to https://www.netflix.com/settings/playback/ and changing "Data usage per screen" from Auto to High

Not sure about Series 0 to 2 but my mom uses a Series 3 with an iPhone 16 and it works just fine. The rest of your point is sound though.
