I was seriously considering upgrading my 2012 MacBook to the new 16" model soon, but now I wonder what kind of longevity or support I can expect from that hardware...

I think a lot of people blindly follow Trump because they also hate who he hates. Trump is a divider, and his supporters feel empowered by agreeing with whatever he says.

OpenCL is available in pixel 3 and pixel 4 phones, but I agree you can't count on it for all Android devices

and echoing a comment above, it's basically: "We're going back to the last version of OpenCL that actually has cross-platform support"
