Unsure how true that is, but I certainly never did. Rider is better either way, but definitely better than alternatives on MacOS.

Rider is by far the best C# IDE. Especially if you're not running Windows. It was a real lifesaver while working with Unity.

It's worth noting that you're a Java dev, working on OpenJDK at Oracle (per your profile here). Which is to say, your bias is....pretty extreme.
